Safe Place Site Check Volunteers Needed!

The next Safe Place Site Check Days are Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9. Individual and group volunteers are needed to visit area Safe Place sites to ensure that Safe Place signs and materials are properly displayed and site employees are informed and trained on response procedures. These periodic site checks ensure that youth receive immediate services in times of crisis. A small commitment of your time can mean a world of difference to a youth in crisis.

Training will be provided to volunteers the days of the site checks at ACH’s Wichita Street Campus, 3712 Wichita Street, Fort Worth, TX 76119.

  • 10:00 am Friday, June 8, 2012
  • 10:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2012

After training, volunteers will be given sites to check (maps provided). Free box lunches will be provided.

Volunteers may choose to work either Friday or Saturday, or both days. Volunteers may choose to check sites with a friend or partner.

The Safe Place Program is a national prevention and outreach program for any youth, under the age of 18 years, who is experiencing a crisis. Locally administered in Tarrant County by ACH, Safe Place is designed to provide youth with access to immediate safety and help. The program works in collaboration with local businesses and organizations that act as ‘safe place’ sites. Safe Place sites include: fire stations, QuikTrip stores, community centers, Boys and Girls Clubs, Fort Worth city buses, libraries, YMCA, and other businesses. Any youth experiencing a crisis may go to a Safe Place site, where employees at the site will welcome the youth in, and then contact ACH to send a counselor to the site immediately to meet with the youth and offer assistance.

For more information about Safe Place Site Check volunteer opportunities, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 682.432.1131 or volunteers@ACHservices.org.
