Safe Place.

Safe Place is a locally-administered, national program designed to provide access to immediate help and safety to young people in trouble. Safe Place sites are developed in partnership with business and community locations that are easily accessible to youth. In Tarrant County, this critical community safety net makes it possible for youth to get help fast at locations that display the distinctive yellow and black Safe Place sign.

TXT 4 HELP.

TXT 4 HELP is 24-hour text-for-support service for youth in crisis. Whether you’re dealing with family issues, neglect, abuse, thoughts of suicide or running away—whatever it may be—you can text the word SAFE and your current location to 69866. Within seconds, you’ll receive the address of the closest Safe Place location and the number for the local youth shelter. You will also have the option to text interactively with a mental health professional.

Help Spread the Word.

Getting the word out to students and community members is an essential part of Safe Place. Presentations are conducted throughout Tarrant County at schools, churches, community organizations and businesses. 

Teen and Pre-Teen Presentations: These presentations are generally 45 minutes in length. During that time youth discuss the dangers of living in unsafe situations, as well as the dangers of running away. Youth are also given information about how Safe Place works and the actions to take if they need Safe Place. Presentations are usually given to youth in fifth grade and higher.

Adult Presentations: Available to the community, these presentations are typically given at local businesses, churches and social service organizations. They can be between 15-30 minutes in length, depending on the time available. These presentations give community members knowledge about the purpose of Safe Place, how to access help for a youth in need, and its impact in Tarrant County.
